Environmental policy
Since its inception in 1926, Deschamps Impression Inc. has been committed to remaining a benchmark in sustainable development and respect for the environment.
This goal is possible thanks to the dedication of management, who spares no effort in investing in a green factory, and the commitment of its staff, who work every day to maintain the implemented sorting and recycling system.
The company recycles an average of 100 metric tons of cardboard and paper monthly at its Quebec City and Montreal plants. Aluminum plates and all other metals and materials generated in the production line are recycled. It uses vegetable-based inks and water-based varnishes, which are less harmful to both the environment and its staff. Ink and varnish waste is collected and returned for incineration at a plant accredited by the Ministry of the Environment. Plate developer is treated with a chemical neutralization system before disposal.
Deschamps Impression Inc. was the first printer in Quebec to adopt new technology to recycle all the solvents used in its production line. A $15 million investment enabled the company to build a state-of-the-art plant that reduces its greenhouse gas emissions. Concerned about the environment, the company has made adjustments to all its air conditioning units to ensure they comply with new environmental laws.
The company recycles plastics and other components generated by its operations. All its computers, monitors, and other electronic components that have reached the end of their useful life are sent to a company that recycles electronic equipment.
